Il paroliere Ted Koehler nasce a Washington, D.C. il 14 luglio 1894. La sua carriera iniziale come pianista nel cinema lo porta a scrivere materiale speciale per cantanti di vaudeville e, in seguito, a produrre i propri spettacoli nei nightclub. Negli anni '20 Koehler collabora a musical di Broadway come "9:15 Revue", "Earl Carroll Vanities" del 1930 e del 1932, "Americana", "Cotton Club Parade" e "Say When". Si trasferisce a Hollywood all'inizio degli anni '30 e lavora a diversi musical di successo, tra cui Manhattan Parade, Let's Fall In Love, King of Burlesque, The Big Show, ... e molti altri.
