Biography
Grant Clarke si trasferisce a New York agli inizi della carriera, dove lavora come attore e autore per comici. Scrive testi per il musical “Dixie to Broadway” e contribuisce alle produzioni “Ziegfeld Follies” del 1921 e “Bombo”. Collabora con compositori come George W. Meyer, Harry Akst, James V. Monaco, Al Piantadosi, Fred Fisher, Harry Warren, Arthur Johnston, James Hanley, Lewis F. Muir e Milton Ager. Firma i testi di canzoni di successo come “Second Hand Rose” e “Am I Blue?”. Scrive per il cinema, contribuendo ai film “The Jazz Singer” (1927), “Weary River” (1928), “On with the Show” (1929) e “Is Everybody Happy?” (1929). Diventa socio fondatore di ASCAP e ottiene successo anche nell’editoria musicale.
